UA Food Trucks

WHY FOOD TRUCKS?
The college student's life is all about chasing a deadline.
With so very much to do and so little time to do it, many opt for small snacks in place of lunch or skip the meal entirely.

Enter in food trucks.

Food trucks are the solution to the hustle and bustle of modern college life.
No longer do you have to go to the food, the food will go to you.

It offers all the benefits of a brick and mortar restaurant with freshly cooked food without the travel time and wait for an open table. Simply get in line, order and you’re off.

Comprising the fleet of University of Alabama partnered food trucks are: Joyful Java, Gampy's, SnoCo, La Mexicana, and Local Roots. Each truck bringing it's own unique flavor to campus.

Joyful Java
Joyful Java is the university’s mobile Coffee Depot.
Stops include: the university nursing school, the Presidential Village dormitories, and Reese Phifer Hall.

Operated and owned by Kate Hartmann. Hartmann said her dream was to one day own a coffee shop and when life gave her the chance, she took it.
Hartmann enjoys the freedom a food truck offers and the chance to meet new faces everywhere she goes.

Hartmann said her busiest location is Reese-Phifer hall and business spikes between class periods when students are wanting their caffeine fix.

GAMPY'S
Gampy's is the new, customization drink truck.

Start with your choice beverage and then add two enhancers. This leaves the customer with a totally unique and totally new drink.

Pastries and sweets are made daily to add with your refreshing concoction.

Fun Fact: There are a total of 16,740 different drink combinations!

SnoCo
The best student-run snow cone truck on campus!
...The only one but still definitely the best!

45 different snow cone flavors guarantees that SnoCo will always have you satisfied and able to quench that sweet tooth.

Some popular choices are: Bahama Mama, Dr. Snow, Tiger's Blood, and Pimp Juice.

Tag them on Instagram with your snow cone of choice and they will feature you on their profile.

La Mexicana
La Mexicana is our little slice of Mexico in Tuscaloosa.

Found outside of Reese Phifer Hall, La Mexicana has become one of the more popular student choices.

Their quick service, fresh ingredients, full flavors, and prepared-daily toppings bar makes them a must in the Reese Phifer area of campus.

Local Roots
Local Roots is one of Tuscaloosa’s most popular eateries- mobile or stationary.

Owned by Dustin Spruill, they are founded on the belief of culinary excellence and generational recipes.

Local Roots is especially popular with students because they accept the university’s
dining currencies of Bamacash and Dining Dollars.

The most popular menu item is the Yard Bird, the famous smoked chicken sandwich, with a side of fries.

Local Roots can be found parked outside of Reese Phifer Hall or Gorgas Library.
